Dr. Ibrahim Bashir brings over two decades of experience in public health, serving as a Consultant Physician and Deputy Director of Public Health at the State House, Abuja. In his current role, he leads strategic initiatives for disease prevention, health emergency responses, and community health programs.
Dr. Bashir holds a medical degree from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Dundee, Scotland and a Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians (Community Health).
As a pioneer fellow of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation and the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government Public Leaders Program, he exemplifies leadership in public service.
Notably, Dr. Bashir spearheaded the State House’s COVID-19 response in 2020, overseeing infection prevention and control measures. His leadership during the pandemic earned him Excellence Service Awards from the State House and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
His expertise extends to infection control, environmental health, and capacity building, with a focus on strengthening Africa’s public health systems through initiatives such as Africa CDC and PANDORA ID-NET.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Bashir is committed to improving health outcomes through collaboration, research, and sustainable innovative solutions. As a Non-Executive Director of 36PlusOne, he contributes his wealth of knowledge to advancing health, education, and climate resilience initiatives.
